Tips to Take Pictures of Babies

Taking pictures of baby bunnies can be quite challenging sometimes. I do all the picture taking by myself in my rabbitry. Which, after all these years, I find easier, actually.

If the babies are able to run around in a pen sometimes this will help make them less tense and calm them down. I typically do not do this though, as I rarely have problems with the babies being tense and uncooperative.

If I want a baby to sit still for a picture and the particular baby is having a hard time sitting still, or I want it to look like it's perked up, I will clap my hands or make a funny high pitch noise with my mouth. This is sure to get the baby's attention and it'll give you enough time to snap a couple pictures.

Some might wonder how I get the posed picture of the baby without my hand on it. I pose the baby, keep my hand in place and as soon as the camera is focused, I move my hand and snap the picture. *Most* of the time this works, as my Mini Lops are very mellow. Every now and then the baby will move in that split second, but it's rare for me to have to deal with. You can see how I do this in the pictures below.

I do the same thing with getting a picture of the front of the baby. I put my fingers right behind the baby's head or place my hand over the baby's head ever so lightly, focus the camera and then snap the picture. Again, you can see how I do this in the images below as well.

I think that pretty much sums it up. If you have more questions about taking pictures of babies, let me know and I can add to this!
